Tactile Ground Surface Indicators

Brass TGSI’s Tactile indicators

TGSI’s are designed to be installed onto pedestrian surfaces to assist in the orientation of people who are vision impaired and to give tactile warning to safely navigate around in a built environment – detectable underfoot or by cane.

Brass Tactiles Key features

• 12 base configurations to suit every look and installation application – concrete, timber, carpet…
• Suitable for external or internal use
• Highest slip rating (R13)
• Fixing method – adhesive or screw down
• Insert colours – black and yellow (carborundum) or black (PVC).
• Compliant with Australian standards and codes Manufactured in Australia

Installation

INSTALLATION

Installation of the individual TGI’s, studs.

We recommend the use of a template for easy install.

For TGSI’s Light Reflective Values, it is the difference in the amount of light reflected from the tactiles compared to the amount of light that’s reflected from the adjacent surface. Tactile tiles/pads  should have 30% luminance contrast while discrete tactile individuals should have 45% to 60%. The 60% contrast is for composite studs.

Our templates are made of ACM (Aluminum composite material (ACM) which  is a three-layer composite sheet with plastic as the core layer)

  • Size is 1200 mm x 600 mm
  • 4 mm thick
  • Suitable for shaft diameter of 8mm single tactile studs
  • 24 holes across x 12 holes down-Total of 288 holes.

You can use these templates twice, as after using the drill, the holes may become slightly larger.

Therefore one template can effectively drill 576  holes (used twice per hole).
