FRP Strips for steps

An affordable way to comply with Australian Stair Nosing Standards is to install a an FRP non slip strip on the edge of steps. This can be an alternative to a full anti slip stair nosing.

FRP anti slip strips.

Anti slip Stair strips and FRP strips for steps.

The FRP strips for steps are to be set back no more than 15 mm from the edge of the step. This allows for a visual contrast to the stair tread.

We have two FRP strips, one which is 50 mm wide and one which is 74 mm wide.

They are 3 mm thick, and taper down on each side.

These FRP anti slip strips have been designed to offer lasting slip resistance. They are made from a composite material that is suitable for use in harsh environments; including, high exposure to salt water. During the manufacture process silicon carbide is incorporated to form an inseparable gritted surface. The strips are available in two sizes.

It is important to note that this is SOLID FRP ; it does not have a galvanized backing, which cause problems with delamination.

The FRP 50 and 74 mm strips comply with Australian Standards AS1428.2021. These Anti Slip Strips have been slip resistance tested to AS 4586:2013

If you require a full FRP stair nosing see Profile 70

Most FRP stair treads are  screwed. We have found on hard surfaces such as porcelain, ceramics and terrazzo it is possible to glue only. The correct adhesive must be used.

When using the FRP stair strip  very important that the external stairs where pavers or concrete aggregate have been use are level and straight.

We also recommend an application of Soudal Hi Tack Adhesive.
